About this event

Join us for this Alaska Funders Group meeting where we will participate in an Alaska Native Dialogues on Racial Equity (ANDORE) benchmarking session facilitated by First Alaskans Institute. The purpose of the session is to begin to enhance connection, knowledge and understanding towards creating a racially equitable Alaska built on trust and meaningful relationships with Alaska Natives and Black, Indigenous and Peoples of Color (BIPOC) communities who call Alaska home.

We will use this discussion as a time to benchmark where we are at as a group and work together to co-create the next steps we all can take to move forward. This meeting is a great opportunity to examine where your organization is on its racial equity journey, where the philanthropic sector is on racial equity from your experience and what we can do as funders to work together towards an anti-racist Alaska.

Background

Philanthropy Northwest hosts the Alaska Funders Group, a network of our members and other grantmakers who fund in Alaska. The group meets regularly throughout the year to share information, learn from each other and get to know their peers in the Alaska funding community. Please contact group co-chairs Alexandra McKay, Rasmuson Foundation, and Elizabeth Ripley, Mat-Su Health Foundation, to propose future meeting agenda topics.

Eligibility

Participation in this meeting is open to philanthropic organizations that are currently making grants in Alaska. This includes private and family foundations, corporate foundations and giving programs, community and public foundations, tribal corporations and nations, governmental grantmaking programs and CDFI institutions with a philanthropic focus. You do not need to be a Philanthropy Northwest member to participate but do need to represent an organizational philanthropic institution. It is not appropriate for nonprofit organizations or individuals to attend. If you have questions or are unsure about your eligibility, please contact Danielle Crystal
