Bipartisan Policy Center Briefing: Improving our Nation's Political Discourse

Wed, June 10, 2015,
10:00am to 12:00pm PDT
Seattle or Teleconference
Philanthropy Northwest, 2101 Fourth Avenue Suite 650 Seattle WA 98121

The Bipartisan Policy Center is a Washington, DC-based think tank that promotes bipartisanship to address several key challenges facing the nation. While a healthy, civil debate among those with differing viewpoints is an essential component of our democracy, the current partisan tone in government is impeding progress. Through briefings and events like political summits and policy discussions, the Bipartisan Policy Center is building relationships with organizations and individuals committed to effecting change in public policy, political discourse, and civic engagement. One of their key priorities is to foster ongoing conversation about how to overcome political divides and help make our government work better.

Please join Philanthropy Northwest in welcoming Bipartisan Policy Center president Jason Grumet and the co-chair of the Center's Commission on Political Reform, Senator Olympia Snowe, for a discussion on:

  • the causes and consequences of America's partisan political divide and specific reforms that could improve the political process
  • the Healthy Congress Index, which provides citizens with metrics for evaluating Congress's ability to effectively legislate and govern
  • your thoughts on the issues that will dominate the political conversations leading up to election season, and BPC’s plans to weigh-in on them
This conversation will take place via teleconference and in-person at Philanthropy Northwest offices. Dial-in information will be provided upon registration.
