Description

Join us for this special conversation with Ibram X. Kendi, National Book Award winner & author of Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America and Professor of History and International Relations and the Founding Director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University. In the current social and political climate and with opened minds, people are actively trying to understand racism. In this talk, Kendi will share how he thinks about shifting the discussion from how not to be racist, to how to be an antiracist. He shares his own racist ideas and how he overcame them. He provides direction to people and institutions who want more than just band-aid programs, but actual antiracist action that builds an antiracist America. Thanks to our sustaining partners and our partnering sponsors for this event, the Raikes Foundation, Casey Family Programs, Seattle Foundation and Elliott Bay Book Company. This is an inclusive event: members and nonprofit rate of $10 and non-member rate of $35. Free for Seattle University students.
