We at the Biller Family Foundation continue to be grateful to be part of a community that is so committed to working on educational issues. In the spirit of offering an additional opportunity for community dialogue and discussion around key topics, we would like to invite you to participate on Monday, March 16 in one or both of the following learning opportunities:

Session 1 – Leveraging community action and support for strong educational governance

9:30am – noon – discuss how to leverage our collective efforts to ensure increased awareness, engagement, and active participation in school governance issues

Session 2 – Exploring the impact and opportunities from Vergara v. California

1:00 – 3:30 pm – discuss how this landmark case (and others) may impact educational efforts locally and nationally

Joining us for these two learning sessions will be Marshall Tuck, recent candidate for CA Superintendent of Public Instruction and former CEO of the Partnership for LA Schools, a nonprofit school turnaround organization. We will also have 1-2 members joining us for the afternoon session from Students Matter, a national non-profit organization dedicated to sponsoring impact litigation to promote access to quality public education.

The meeting will be held at the Biller Family Foundation office (Two Union Square – 601 Union Street). Directions, parking information, and room location will be sent to all attendees prior to March 16.

Please RSVP to Jo Vance by Wednesday, March 11, if you plan to attend. Indicate in your response if you will be attending session 1, session 2, or both. We are limited to ~ 30 seats for each session.

Please feel free to forward this to others who you think might be interested in attending.
