Sherwood Trust and Blue Mountain Community Foundation are hosting their second annual tour for private foundations and corporate funders to learn about and explore the Walla Walla Valley, from Dayton, Washington to Walla Walla to Milton-Freewater, Oregon on November 7-9, 2017. This program will introduce some of the exciting and innovative collaborations in our rural communities and highlight opportunities for future philanthropic investment.
The tour will be interactive and engaging. Our goal is to strengthen grantmakers’ knowledge of and support for our underserved rural communities and to learn from shared experiences of funding in rural areas. (Read more about the 2017 funders’ tour in Kiran Ahuja’s blog post, Walla Walla Valley Funders’ Tour: A Model for Learning and Connection.)
Participants will have opportunities to meet and learn from other funders and local community leaders who are working to address challenges and make positive change. We hope you’ll join us!
The schedule will highlight regional initiatives and organizations and will be flexible, to the extent possible, to match the interests of the funders who attend. Walla Walla Valley nonprofits cover a wide spectrum of interests from education supporters, to arts and cultural organizations, to environmental advocates, to health and human services providers.
Please be sure to register as soon as possible, and no later than October 12, as space is limited. Registration and schedule details are available on the Visit Walla Walla website.
