The City of Everett was incorporated on May 4, 1893. Located along the shores of Port Gardner Bay, Everett is about 25 miles north of Seattle and 85 miles south of the Canadian border. The City encompasses roughly 48 square miles and is bordered by 11 miles of saltwater and 10 miles of freshwater shoreline.
Everett operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. It is a general purpose governmental entity and provides the full range of municipal services allowed by statute and charter. These services include police, fire, emergency medical services, street maintenance, planning and zoning, libraries, parks and recreation, and general administrative services.
In addition to its general government services, the City operates five enterprises: water and sewer utility, solid waste (recycling) utility, two golf courses, a transit system, and a parking garage.
The City of Everett is the Snohomish County seat. With a population of 108,300, it is the largest city in the county and the seventh largest in the state.
NATURE OF WORK
The City of Everett, Washington is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly motivated individual for the appointive position of Fundraising Coordinator.
Under the direction of the Assistant Parks & Community Services Director or designee, the Fundraising Coordinator establishes and implements sustainable funding strategies for the Everett Animal Shelter. Responsibilities include developing campaigns, planning fundraising events, writing grants, and developing donor relations. Work is reviewed for effectiveness via reports, project outcomes and results obtained.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
•Develop and implement annual fundraising plan to increase revenue and engage donors.
•Cultivate community contacts and develop collaborative relationships with corporations, local businesses and members of the community.
•Coordinate fund raising efforts to identify, secure sponsors and engage with ongoing event opportunities.
•Research and apply for grants, follow through on compliance and reporting requirements.
•Establish and develop relationships with foundations, private and non-profit groups, grant funding organizations and other groups to raise funds for the purpose of sustaining funding for the Everett Animal Shelter.
•Maintain integrity of donor information, queries and reports.
•Conduct quantitative and qualitative market research for the purpose of improving program/facility offerings, maintaining competitive position, improving benefit/cost relationships and enhancing customer service.
•Develop and monitor data collection systems and processes to assist management in conducting program evaluations and performance measurement analysis.
•Prepare performance assessment reports utilizing productivity auditing results compared to departmental standards and industry benchmarks. Conduct and report related statistical and qualitative assessments by using a variety of benchmark surveys and analytical tools.
•Serve as the organization's spokesperson at meetings and public events.
•Provide tours and presentations to donors.
•Coordinate materials for public release and work with the City's Communication's Department, as needed, to coordinate public messaging.
•Develop internal work policies and procedures associated with fund raising to assure consistent quality services.
•Work with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, support and value volunteers who assist with fundraising efforts.
•Perform related work and special projects as assigned.

Benefit eligibility for the employee and eligible dependents begins the first day of the month following the employee's hire date. Premiums for Delta Dental and HMA Vision are paid by the City on behalf of the employee and eligible dependents. Premiums for Life, LTD, Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage on behalf of the employee are paid by the City. Premiums for HMA Medical and Kaiser Medical coverage are shared by the employee.
An additional benefit is available through a Voluntary Life Insurance program for the employee, spouse, and children. The employee pays the premiums for this benefit.
It is mandatory that both the City and the employee pay into the Department of Retirement Systems for Washington State.
Two voluntary Deferred Compensation programs are available for employee participation.
A Flexible Spending Plan is available that allows you to make pre-tax contributions for Health Care reimbursement and/or Dependent Care reimbursement for those expenses not covered by medical.
The Employee Assistance Program EAP is provided free of charge to employees and family members.
Generous vacation and sick leave benefits are provided to employees. Ten annual holidays and two floating holidays are paid.
- A combination of education and/or related experience may substitute for education requirements.
- Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field and
- 3 years related experience in a fundraising, special events, business, marketing, communications and/or public relations position or
- Any equivalent combination which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
