As I approach my one-year anniversary with Philanthropy Northwest next month on June 19, I think about how much I’ve learned and gained from meeting all of you. Three months into my role, we had our annual conference where I met many of you. Here we are again, looking forward to exploring in Boise this October how to listen, partner and lead in the world of philanthropy and beyond. As part of that theme, I’m excited to announce two of our conference keynote speakers (with more to come): Anand Giridharadas and Judy Belk.
Anand Giridharadas is the author of the forthcoming book Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World and a political analyst for NBC News and MSNBC. Judy Belk is the President and CEO of The California Wellness Foundation, a leader in the philanthropic sector with a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. (Read more about Anand and Judy.) With their leadership and unique experiences combined with our collective energy and passion, I have no doubt that our annual conference will be a memorable one.
Last year, we had a conversation with CEOs about how they would like an opportunity to deepen their learning among their peers. That’s why we will include programming with special content designed specifically for CEOs, CFOs, board finance committee members and emerging practitioners. I invite you to learn more about what else you can expect to see in Boise on October 2-4 as we focus on capacity building and nonprofits, policy, reflective practices, DEI, impact investing and more, and how we can start thinking differently about leadership in new and bold ways outlined by our conference co-chair, Kris Hermanns of the Pride Foundation.
Once a year, we look forward to that special time together when all of us from our six-state Northwest region come together. I’m looking forward to what is in store for us at our conference and I hope you will be a part of it. Our registration is open, so don’t delay!
