Community and nonprofit leaders from western Washington came together this month, in person and online, to celebrate Boeing's announcement of nearly $10 million in local grants for 2016.
Boeing's corporate giving is in addition to the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound, which distributed more than $8 million through 99 grants in the region last year. The company's grants will go to more than 100 local nonprofit groups in the Puget Sound region.
U.S. Rep. Denny Heck, D-Wash., one of several public officials who attended, said of Boeing’s commitment to the Puget Sound and Washington state:
“They have been very generous for a very long time. And they have been very smart and strategic in their giving.”
The Boeing community grants are one facet of the company’s ongoing support to the Puget Sound region. In 2015, Boeing, its employees and retirees donated nearly $50 million to a range of causes and sponsorships. Boeing and its employees also support community programs and causes in other cities where the company has a presence.
Boeing is celebrating its centennial in 2016, which is also Philanthropy Northwest's 40th anniversary year. Check back for more updates as we celebrate the past, present and future of Northwest philanthropy together!
