Pick.Click.Give. Campaign Raises $3.2M for Alaska Nonprofits

April 4, 2016

This year's Pick.Click.Give. campaign, allowing Alaska residents to donate $25 or more from their Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) payments to 640 nonprofit organizations across the state, has raised more than $3 million this year.

According to the Alaska Department of Revenue, as of April 1:

  • 29,543 Alaskans donated $3.2 million from their 2016 PFDs, a slight decrease from the record amount of $3.3 million in 2015.
  • 5.5% of Alaskans who filed online for the PFD made donations through Pick.Click.Give., a slight decrease from 6% in 2016.
  • The average amount donated per person rose to $108 in 2016, up from a $100 average in 2015.
  • The top five recipients in 2016 were Bean’s Cafe with $126,025; Alaska Public Media with $116,600; Food Bank of Alaska with $89,550; Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest with $82,675; and Catholic Social Services with $80,175.

“We’re thrilled with this year’s donation amount. Alaskans deserve a huge thank you for their willingness to support such great causes,” said Pick.Click.Give. manager Jason Grenn. “This could have been a difficult year for Alaska’s nonprofits because of the uncertainty around the Permanent Fund itself and the economic situation in our state. But in these tough times, it’s inspiring to see Alaskans can be counted on to help their neighbors.”

Pick.Click.Give. is a program of The Alaska Community Foundation. Established in 1995, The Alaska Community Foundation is a statewide platform for philanthropy that connects people who care with causes that matter. Holding approximately $75 million in more than 360 funds for the benefit of Alaskans, ACF grants $3 to 4 million each year to charitable projects and nonprofit organizations across the state.

“The goal of the Pick.Click.Give. program is to help make charitable giving part of the every Alaskan’s life,” said Nina Kemppel, The Alaska Community Foundation's president and CEO. “Along with our partners, Rasmuson Foundation, The Foraker Group and United Way of Anchorage, we are proud to be helping nonprofits make a positive impact on communities across the state.”

Although the deadline to apply for the 2016 PFD has passed, Alaskans who have already filed can add Pick.Click.Give. donations through August 31.
