Anbar brings over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector and a passion for capacity-building for the nonprofit and philanthropy world. Anbar’s passion also lies in helping teams create processes and policies that help strengthen the infrastructure of the organization. Her experience includes strategic planning, facilitation, and designing organizational retreats. She currently acts as the Research Analyst and focuses on field scan based research, data analysis, planning or designing meetings or convenings, project management for our Philanthropy’s Reflective Practices initiative and capturing the team’s knowledge. Prior to The Giving Practice, Anbar primarily worked in civil rights organizations for the American Muslim community. In her various roles, she gained valuable and diverse experience in all aspects of nonprofit management. This includes finance management, donor cultivation, event planning, project management, training and facilitation and developing online courses. Anbar also holds a B.A degree in International Studies from University of California, San Diego and a Master’s in Public Administration from University of Southern California.

How does a Southern California native end up moving to Seattle during the rainiest winter on record? In my national search, I found that Seattle held exactly what I was looking for: a thriving community of nonprofits and foundations. Specifically, I found my calling when Philanthropy Northwest opened the research analyst position for The Giving Practice, its national consulting team. So much so, that my husband and I packed our bags from Dallas, Texas — where we had been living for the last few years — and moved across the country for me to take this opportunity.
