Mary Fifield is a writer, trainer, facilitator and community development practitioner. She has 20 years of program design and organizational leadership in the U.S. and international non-profit sector.

Based in San Diego, California, she consults with philanthropic organizations to help them create programs that support community self-determination and harness community assets for sustainable and effective local development. She also serves as Director of Grantmaking for the Cotyledon Fund.

Her research and writing appear in Alliance Magazine, The Foundation Review and others. She has published fiction, is the co-editor of the anthology Fire & Water: Stories from the Anthropocene from Black Lawrence Press and is fluent in Spanish.
