About the event

Philanthropy 101 is a four-part virtual series that helps all staff new to philanthropy better understand the sector. In this interactive course, you will discover the history of philanthropy, review a foundation's leadership and governance, learn an overview of grantmaking, debate the current big issues in philanthropy and explore the various roles within philanthropy. You'll also connect with a cohort of other philanthropy professionals from across the Northwest. Philanthropy 101 takes place over four interactive online sessions designed for accessibility across our six-state region!

Session 4: The Power of Advocacy & Your New Community

This is a two-part session that first looks at the role of advocacy as one of philanthropy's central levers for change. Then we will close out the series by examining emerging trends in the sector and a grounding in your professional and personal networks - everything you need to carry you forward in your new career in philanthropy!
