About the event

The Alaska Funders Group will gather for a summer learning session on the recent federal tax changes under HR1 that are reshaping the charitable landscape, and explore what these changes mean for nonprofits and giving strategies moving forward. 

Join Laurie Wolf, MNPL, CFRE, president & CEO of The Foraker Group, for an interactive and thought-provoking session designed specifically for Alaska’s philanthropic leaders. Laurie will break down the key elements of the new charitable tax rules, provide important context on what’s changed and share practical strategies that nonprofits are likely to take. We will explore what this means for Alaska’s philanthropic leaders, in particular the corporate environment, and how might the changes impact the requirement for match and challenge requests.

Laurie was born and raised in Anchorage and has spent the last 35 years focusing her commitment and passion on the role that nonprofits and tribes have in Alaska. Laurie has been with Foraker since 2001 and has led the organization since 2015. As the President and CEO of Foraker, she leads a dynamic team and partners with three boards to ensure Foraker is a valued, strategic and thoughtful partner across Alaska and the nation. Additionally, Laurie focuses daily on connecting nonprofit leaders across the state by regularly supporting creative collaborations, providing board and leadership development and creating a positive culture of philanthropy within organizations. She continues to be instrumental in creating many of Foraker's services, curriculum and philosophy. Laurie is a strong advocate for the power of the nonprofit sector to change lives, improve our environment, secure our economic opportunities, provide essential arts, cultural and educational experiences and truly partner to ensure healthy communities. She has joyfully been associated with Philanthropy Northwest since 1998.

Eligibility

Participation in this meeting is open to funders who are based in and/or fund in Alaska. You do not need to be a Philanthropy Northwest member to attend this event. If you are unsure about your eligibility, please contact our programs team.
