About this event
Raising philanthropy's awareness of unconscious bias allows us to rethink the ways in which we approach hiring, strategy, inclusion, organizational culture and relationships with stakeholders. As organizations, we often talk a lot about the value of inclusion, and though we may as individuals have great intention to be equitable and inclusive on a conscious level, our unconscious beliefs can get in the way of us actually "being" and "doing" inclusivity and equity. We like to think that we are logical beings acting rationally— but in reality, many of our decisions, big and small, are not made at a conscious level.
This is a first in our four-part Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) web series where we will unpack concepts related to DEI and provide short hand tools for you to use at levels of self, interpersonal and organizational.
In this 90-minute session on bias, we will discuss:
- What is unconscious bias?
- How does unconscious bias impact me and my foundation?
- What are some strategies and tools I can use to help overcome unconscious bias?
