Legal help can often mean the difference between shelter and homelessness, illness and health, and loss or opportunity. Yet everyday millions of Americans cannot access the legal assistance they need when facing life-changing situations such as domestic violence, unfair unemployment, unlawful evictions, or the loss of veterans’, health or disability benefits. The constitutional guarantee of a lawyer does not apply to families and individuals who are fighting common civil injustices. Those who cannot afford legal support are often left to navigate these complex legal situations on their own — and risk losing their families, homes and livelihoods in the process.
Similar to community organizing, advocacy or research, civil legal aid can complement existing funding strategies and increase the overall impact of your funding efforts. Please join us to learn how support for civil legal aid can serve children, veterans, seniors, people with disabilities and victims of domestic violence.
