About this event

The Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, in partnership with funder affinity groups from around the country, will be hosting a teleconference for funders focusing on the impact of the Orlando massacre on communities in central Florida and how funders can respond to the needs of those most impacted by this tragedy.

This teleconference is part of a series of calls focusing on the Orlando massacre. Our first call focused on the various philanthropic responses in the wake of the tragedy. A recording of this call can be found here.

This second call will focus on the impact of the massacre on communities in central Florida and beyond and help funders understand how they can support efforts led by local LGBTQ and Latino communities in the wake of the tragedy. This call will highlight both the current response on the ground in Orlando as well as long and short term needs that remain related to services, community building, healing and advocacy.

This call will be co-moderated by Ben Francisco Maulbeck, President of Funders for LGBTQ Issues and Stacy Carlson, President & CEO of the Florida Philanthropic Network. Speakers on the call will include:

  • Zoe Colon, Director of Florida & Southeast Operations for the Hispanic Federation
  • Joel Morales, Lead HIV Tester at The Orlando LGBTQ Center
  • Marco Antonio Quiroga, Director of Public Policy at True Colors Fund
  • Nadine Smith, CEO at Equality Florida
