Breakout Session: BIPOC Women in Tech - Lessons from a Holistic Grant Strategy

2020 inspired more philanthropists to shift from restricted grantmaking toward a trust-based philanthropy model – redistributing funds and power back to communities and trusting community-driven solutions. How can we ensure grantmakers continue to move in this direction and money quickly reaches the communities that need it most? This panel will explore how Reboot Representation’s data-driven grantmaking method uncovers and prioritizes the unique needs of Black, Latina and Native American (BLNA) women pursuing computing degrees, who have often been left out of traditional grantmaking strategies. Then, we will dive into Reboot’s approach to partnering with community-based organizations to co-create strategies that support the unmet needs of BLNA women, and how you can adapt these strategies to uncover community needs in your own grantmaking.
