The Seacoast Trust represents a unique and innovative approach to conservation finance, combining Indigenous stewardship values with sustainable economic development strategies. It’s rooted in Indigenous values and prioritizes self-determination for the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian peoples of Southeast Alaska. This session will offer attendees an opportunity to learn directly from the Trust's leaders and partners, gaining a deep understanding of the challenges, strategies and successes that have shaped this groundbreaking initiative. Participants will gain insights into the Trust's collaborative approach, which brings together diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, conservation organizations, and philanthropic partners, to achieve shared goals of environmental stewardship and community well-being.
