The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) Bison Range is a truly unique place. Managed as a Wildlife Refuge by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, it consists of 18,766 acres in the center of the 1,250,000-acre Flathead Indian Reservation. Over half of the Bison Range borders Indian trust land and waterways. From 1994 through 2016, CSKT engaged in extensive and repeated efforts towards entering into partnership agreements with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for management participation at the Bison Range. CSKT’s Bison Range Self-Governance agreements are unlike any other in the U.S. and the tribe manages this extensive nature and wildlife preserve. This tour will include a chance to experience both the informative visitor center and a driving tour of the bison habitat.
