Position Information
Good Cheer’s mission is to create a hunger-free community on Whidbey Island. Hunger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. We help connect our food bank shoppers with other programs and resources, provide low-cost clothing and household necessities through our thrift stores, and cultivate a 1.5 acre farm to ensure fresh produce is always available. Good Cheer Food Bank is here for anyone the doesn’t have adequate resources to feed themselves or their family. There are no additional eligibility requirements to access our services. No one will be turned away without food.

This position has overall responsibility for ensuring Good Cheer’s accounting processes are accurate and timely, obligations are paid as required, books are balanced with bank accounts and recorded and communicated via reports to Co-Directors.
Functions to be performed
- Accounts Payable:
- Process bills, verify purchase requests and authorizations.
- Prepare weekly AP aging report for Co-Director’s approval.
- Prepare checks for signatures.
- Payroll:
- Reconcile timecards and provide hours report to payroll service
- Provide payroll service with all new hire information and update any changes in contributions, deductions, pay rate, employee status, and PTO accrual rates.
- Provide information to Good Cheer’s Accounting Firm as requested.
- Accounts Receivable:
- Prepare manual deposits.
- Record all electronic bank deposits, retail sales deposits, and credit card deposits.
- Record and balance company credit card accounts.
- Record and track donations
- Provide bookkeeping/accounting support for special projects/fund raising events including reports.
- Prepare Monthly Client Intake Report Statistics
- Assist in financial reporting/estimating for Grants
- Reconcile donations to General Ledger from Salesforce
- Assist and/or facilitate in Budget Preparation by providing data and any trend reports.
- Produces a variety of financial reports, including Income statements and balance sheets.
- Provide timely communication to Co-directors when payroll tax or other reporting regulations requires a change in bookkeeping /accounting practices.
General Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, including classes and customers/jobs functions (preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and Salesforce (preferred).
- Relevant coursework in business math or related fields (preferred).
- Ability to work onsite at Good Cheer’s administrative offices, with some tasks eligible for remote work.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of accrual-basis accounting.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
