Position Information
STEM Paths Innovation Network (SPIN) has a mission to close the opportunity gap for
women and BIPOC communities in STEM careers and education. We do this through
offering enrichment, mentoring and curriculum development and providing safe,
culturally responsive environments for students to learn and adults to support them.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Development Director will play a crucial role in advancing SPIN’s mission by
leading and managing all aspects of our fundraising efforts. This includes developing
and implementing strategic plans to meet annual fundraising goals, building and
maintaining relationships with donors, and overseeing events and campaigns. The ideal
candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in nonprofit
development, excellent communication skills, and a passion for our mission.
Develop and Implement a Comprehensive Fundraising Plan (50%)
● Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop
fundraising goals and strategies that align with SPIN’s mission and values.
● Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major
gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events.
○ Identify and cultivate major gift prospects
○ Identify and cultivate corporate and foundation donors
○ Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for
SPIN.
● Develop individual giving program, including:
○ Building relationships with SPIN community, board and families
○ Developing and implementing campaigns
○ Managing donation records, donor tracking, donor recognition and
acknowledgements
● Collaborate with Board to develop annual Board Fundraising plans
● Manage and expand the donor base, ensuring a robust pipeline of future
support.
● Analyze fundraising data and trends to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
Donor Relations and Stewardship: (20%)
● Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors.
● Develop and execute donor engagement and recognition programs.
● Ensure timely and accurate donor communications, including acknowledgments
and reports.
● Organize and host donor appreciation events and activities.
Manage and Lead Fundraising Team: (10%)
● As SPIN continues to grow, the Development Director will hire staff, set goals
and expectations for team members, monitor their performance and provide
feedback to ensure team success
● Collaborate closely with grant writer to prospect, prepare, submit and report on
philanthropic support
● Work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and program staff
to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
● Provide regular reports to the Executive Directors and Board on fundraising
progress and initiatives.
Marketing and Communications: (15%)
● Collaborate with team to develop and implement marketing strategies that
enhance donor engagement and support fundraising efforts.
● Oversee the creation of fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters,
and online content.
● Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all donor communications.
Other Duties (5%)
● Engage in professional development
● Collaborate with staff in weekly team meetings
● Represent and attend community events and activities to ensure the
engagement of SPIN with other nonprofits and the communities we serve.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management,
communications, marketing, or a related field.
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fund development, with a proven
track record of successful fundraising.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Strong organizational and project management abilities.
● Proven ability to lead a team
● Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and
stakeholders.
● Demonstrated Ability to Work Collaboratively
● Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management systems.
● Passion for the mission of SPIN and a commitment to making a difference.
● High level of flexibility and adaptability to meet changing work goals and
demands.
● Be legally authorized to work in the U.S

and a familiarity with how to speak about the gifts and needs of these
communities.
