This summer, Rasmuson Foundation announced $2.7 million in grants for programs across Alaska:
- At its June 28 meeting, Rasmuson Foundation directors approved grants for eight organizations, including including $185,000 to establish the first Ronald McDonald House in Alaska. Foundation funds will help furnish the new facility at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, which will provide quarters and services for pregnant women who travel to ANMC to have their babies and for the parents of children from outside Anchorage who receive long-term treatment at the hospital.
- On August 22, the foundation announced more than $1 million in grants through its Tier 1 program, which provides up to $25,000 for capital projects, technology upgrades, program expansion and creative works. The 51 recipients include Blood Bank of Alaska, Bristol Bay Native Association and Native Village of Shishmaref.
Rasmuson Foundation was created in May 1955 by Jenny Rasmuson to honor her late husband “E.A.” Rasmuson. Through grantmaking and initiatives, the foundation is a catalyst to promote a better life for all Alaskans. For more information, visit www.rasmuson.org.
