About this event
Join us for the second of three virtual exchanges built for community foundation staff, trustees and board members. This call will be led by Maddy Metzger-Utt, Philanthropy Northwest Community Foundation Advisor and former CEO of Community Foundation of Snohomish County. In this series, we'll tackle the most pressing issues as identified by you, our Community Foundation network.
In the community foundation world, donors find us via referral by philanthropic, estate and financial advisors. On average, however, a small portion of such referrals result in a philanthropic engagement. Of these, an even smaller percentage continue to work with their foundation philanthropic advisor after an initial year. Churn at this level necessitates a strong donor pipeline. But, outside of professional referrals, what does it take to find and connect with prospective donors?
Join expert fundraisers for a professional major donor development deep dive -- tailored for the community foundation context. Leave with big ideas and a tool kit of resources to explore further and dig deeper on topics covered in the sessions. Topics include:
Getting your donor retention house in order:
- Impact framework
- Relationship framework
- Stewardship process
Finding donors:
- Thought leadership
- Ambassadors -- Peer referrals
- Tailored engagement events
Qualifying donors:
- Qualification – not everyone is your donor, who is?
- Data collection/management and building donor profiles
- What and how to research?
Engaging donors:
- Permission-based cultivation
- Listening
- Cultivating
- Asking
These virtual exchanges will be on video, to encourage relationship building despite our distance from one another.
