The intersection of rural community vitality and rural serving foundation effectiveness has garnered more attention in the past five years than in the previous 40. Philanthropy Northwest has been supporting the growth of this important discussion through a two-year series of webinars focused on rural issues and practices featuring funders and practitioners from around the country. What has become clear is an overwhelming desire to better understand the practice of rural philanthropy – identifying and understanding local context and relationships, modifying one’s approach and adjusting organizational priorities as needed. Or in shorthand: what happens if your motives are viewed with suspicion and distrust? Join us for a conversation about how to be an effective initiator and supporter of rural philanthropic work- even as an outsider. The session will be facilitated by Lyn Hunter of Philanthropy Northwest and Allen Smart of PhilanthropywoRx.
