About this event
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy invites education grantmakers to attend a nationwide conference call on Friday, May 30, 1:00-1:45pm EST to begin a discussion on how to maximize the first-ever White House Maker Faire for the benefit of citizens and communities around the country. The White House Maker Faire will highlight makers young and old who are capitalizing on increasingly low cost and ever more democratized tools and technologies to expand the boundaries of American innovation, informal STEM learning, advanced manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and local economic development.
Since announcing the event, The White House's Office of Science and Technology has been working closely with cities, universities, libraries and museums, private sector stakeholders, foundations, federal agencies, and other partners on both identifying makers to showcase and announcing commitments at the event. Speakers include: Executive Director of The Grable Foundation, Gregg Behr, on his organization’s investment in this effort and event lead Kumar Garg, Assistant Director for Learning and Innovation at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
This call is being conducted in partnership with Grantmakers for Education and the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers.
