About this event

In this special workshop for family foundations, we'll look at the genesis of white wealth in parallel with the historical harms that resulted from the enslavement of African Americans, creating the current 10-to-1 racial wealth gap, and how this framework fits into the conversation around repair in philanthropy. We will be joined by Briayna Cuffie and Lotte Lieb Dula from Reparations 4 Slavery, who will share their own ancestral narratives as the backdrop for our conversation.

In this interactive session, we will build on Lotte and Breanna’s stories to explore:

  • True racial histories in the Northwest

  • The origins of wealth in our own organizations

  • How grappling with these truths fits into our work and community impact as a family foundation

  • Our visions for what reparative action could look like in our organizations

Please note this will be a multi-part session, including a deep dive presentation as well as workshop time to reflect and unpack concepts.
