Since 1968, YES has helped children, teens and families struggling with depression, grief, trauma, substance abuse, anxiety, gender-or cultural-identity issues, behavioral issues, ADHD, autism and much more.

Role Responsibilities: 

Position Summary

The Development Manager is an experienced fundraising professional with a proven track record in the development and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program.  This individual is responsible for the growth and stewardship of annual donors through strategic communications, stewardship, personal solicitations, multi-channel campaigns, and donor events. The Development Manager is also responsible for managing the planning of events, including the annual “Invest in Youth” breakfast, and smaller cultivation events through the year.  The Development Manager also manages corporate sponsorships for the “Invest in Youth” event. 

 

This is a full-time, position that reports to the Chief Advancement Officer.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an annual plan for cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of donors in the $1-$4999 giving segment, working to identify and increase new donors and annual giving levels of existing donors. 
  • Identify and implement new approaches for engaging and recognizing this donor segment.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer and Marketing & Communications Manager, plan and implement a comprehensive direct mail program and online giving strategy that includes a calendar outlining the campaign activity, campaign goals, and reporting for donors in this donor segment.    
  • Support major gifts advancement by identifying major gift prospects and facilitating a seamless transition to the Director of Donor Relations.
  • Work with Marketing & Community Relations Manager to develop donor-focused communications and appeals for social media, website, email, direct mail and print publications.
  • Event related work
    • Manage event timelines keeping team members on track to deadlines; oversee pre-event, day-of and post-event activities.
    • Manage corporate sponsorships
    • Support audience development. 
  • Oversee corporate giving strategies, promoting opportunities for event sponsorships, workplace giving, and corporate matching. 
  • In collaboration with Chief Advancement Officer and the Development team, establish annual and long-range goals, and annual development plans and budgets.
  • Supervise and support the Development Coordinator in the daily operations of the donor database, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of donor data.  And in creating reports, queries and mailing lists. 
  • Support the Development Coordinator’s monthly reconciliation with the finance department. 
Candidate Qualifications: 

Required Skills & Education:      

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, fundraising/non-profit management, communications, public relations, OR equivalent level of training and experience (prefer five years in lieu of BA). 
  • Three or more years of proven success in fundraising, with experience in multi-channel fundraising campaigns, and/or large-scale project management. 
  • Highly organized, able to work independently, and have an ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to think strategically, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines and performance goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Team-oriented.  
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM databases (YES uses DonorPerfect), and email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact).
  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

Working Conditions:

  • Must have valid driver’s license and dedicated transportation available for outside agency meetings and duties.  Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as job occasionally requires loading and unloading supplies for events and other activities. Occasional evening and weekend hours required.  Based at YES’ Bellevue Crossroads office.
