About this event

Like other states across the country, Washington is facing a budget crisis accelerated by COVID-19, with a projected $4.5 billion revenue shortfall through next year. Unemployment is at its highest rate since the Great Depression and millions of families are struggling to meet their most basic needs. For Black, Indigenous and other communities of color especially, long-standing economic inequities have widened during the pandemic and only stand to become worse unless action is taken to advance progressive revenue solutions. While philanthropy alone cannot meet these challenges faced by our communities, these challenges cannot be overcome without philanthropy as a partner and voice.

Join us on Wednesday, September 30, from 2-3:30 pm for a virtual funders briefing and discussion with community leaders, budget experts, and institutional and individual funders to address the state of Washington’s budget and strategies to achieve a more equitable economic system for all communities.

This event is co-presented by Philanthropy Northwest, Progress Alliance of Washington and Washington State Budget & Policy Center and is open to members of the organizations’ networks.

Registration is now closed. For questions about the program, please contact Meredith Higashi.
