Philanthropic support for the arts has a long history, with major museums, philharmonics and other institutions benefiting from private donations for generations. However, several arts funders in the Northwest are breaking from the traditional approach, focusing on advancing equity in both who they fund and how they do it.

On this call, we will hear from ArtsFund, a Seattle-based legacy institution and arts funder that has been giving unrestricted grant funding for over 50 years. We will also hear from funders from throughout the region who are giving grants directly to individual artists, as well as Grantmakers in the Arts to explore emerging trends in the sector. 

Join us to learn how some Northwest funders have been challenging traditional arts funding and are deepening their commitment to equity in grantmaking to shift resources to underrepresented artists and arts organizations.
 

Background and Registration

The Philanthropy Northwest Network Call series takes place one Friday every month to bring an important topic to our network. The goal of these calls is to lift up an issue to our network of funders to deepen their learning, inspire action, and highlight where philanthropy might intersect with this work. 

These calls are open for anyone to join. You don’t have to be from a philanthropic organization or a member of Philanthropy Northwest, but please note these conversations are framed around philanthropy, and the role philanthropy might play around a particular issue.
