Philanthropy Northwest and the Campion Foundation invite you to join us for a conversation around a new national campaign entitled, Stand for Your Mission on how advocacy, particularly from nonprofit boards, can enhance the mission of organizations. BoardSource, in partnership with the Campion Foundation, the Alliance for Justice, the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, the National Council of Nonprofits and the Knight Foundation, is leading the charge to change the culture of nonprofit boards and philanthropy to include this critical piece of the puzzle.
Funders and nonprofit advisors look for many traits when partnering with organizations and a commitment to standing up for the mission and people served should be one of them. Nonprofit board members are an untapped resource—they can serve as powerful champions and can bridge differences in opinion, turn ideas into solutions, and make good things happen. Government is a natural partner on many issues and philanthropy, nonprofit organizations and policy leaders need to work together to make progress.
Anne Wallestad, CEO of BoardSource, will lead a discussion for philanthropy and nonprofit advisors on how advocacy can expand nonprofit impact and what – as funders and advisors – we can do to support stronger advocacy amongst our nonprofit partners. The conversation will touch on big myths around nonprofit advocacy, how foundations can signal support of advocacy as a key strategy for their grantees, and what resources are available to support stronger engagement in advocacy from boards and other leaders.
Eligibility: Registration is required. This program is open to Philanthropy Northwest members and professional nonprofit advisors only. Seating is limited, please register early.
